It would be nice if we could make ourselves queen, wouldn’t it. Life does not quite work that way, though gender identity ideologists, like an army of Lucy van Pelts, insist we are who we say we are. It is a considerable element in this ideology, in fact one of its pillars, the claim that self-actualisation, and the right to choose one’s identity, are a fundamental right of human beings. Of course intellectually it has all the depth of a Hallmark card, that dreadful American tradition, but then gender identity ideology is the ideology for intellectually shallow people with pretensions of depth. Reading it is like immersing oneself in all the worst that Western culture produced in the last fifty years or so, from self-help books to sit-coms, to critical studies academia.
